The Brazen Turtle is Keeliai's first foreigner owned and run tavern. While not an inn, patrons are welcome to visit for lunch, dinner, drinks, smokes, and live entertainment. Locals and foreigners of all ages are welcome, and anyone aged sixteen or older is welcome to partake in what alcoholic beverages and tobacco-esque products are available for sale.

Violence will not be tolerated and anyone caught fighting will be promptly ejected. Repeat offenders will banned from the premises.

the bar

The sturdy hardwood bar is well stocked behind with just about every kind of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage available in Keeliai. There are padded stools enough to seat a dozen people, and a little room left over for anyone who wants to tuck themselves between friends if they don't mind getting cozy. As a reminder, kedan alcohol is more potent than alcohol from Earth, or any equivalent thereof. That said, be certain to pace yourself! These drinks aren't watered down, and one of the bartenders *cough*Nita*cough* is known to use a heavy hand when it comes to pouring!

tables and booths

For groups who are interested in having a space of their own, there are tables available throughout the main room downstairs. Two-person and four-person tables are found at the center of the room (and can be pushed together if necessary!), and booths that seat four to six people line two walls. Tables are first-come, first-serve. Those seated at tables have the added bonus of not having to go to the bar to get their drinks, and instead can have all food and drinks ordered through one of the available servers if they like. Be sure to tip them generously!

stage

In the main room, patrons may also be pleased to find that there is a wide stage set up off to the side. While there is a piano on that stage, performers of all kinds are welcome, from singers, musicians and dancers to poets, jugglers, actors, or anyone else who can put on a show. Entertainers are scheduled most evenings and occasionally during the day. For more information on entertainers, please see below.

smoking lounge

The second floor contains several alcoves that have been set up for those who wish to smoke. Plush couches, cushioned stools and over-sized pillows can be found in each space, separated by richly colored drapes of varying opacity. While the establishment does have products available for sale to be enjoyed within, including waterpipes which can be prepared on request, customers are also welcome to bring their own products for personal use. In this quieter area, seats in the lounges are first come first serve.

private rooms

For those not in the mood to deal with sitting amongst the general public, especially in the evenings when it's bound to be louder, there are a few small and private rooms available for reserve. With long tables and chairs within, patrons are waited upon by servers who will handle and food and drink orders given to them. With the closed doors keeping out a great deal of outside noise, these spaces are perfect for cozy evenings with someone special, or private meetings with business associates.

rooftop

Last but certainly not least is the crowning jewel of the tavern: it's renovated rooftop. Stairs leading up from the second floor provide access to the top of the tall building. There, patrons can enjoy food and drinks, smoke as they please, and enjoy the open air and a fantastic view of the city. Along the edge of the roof a solid wall has been built to keep anyone from tipping over the edge by accident. However they aren't meant to keep people away entirely. Instead, benches have been built up against that wall, made comfortable with wide cushions, and low tables set nearby for the convenience of setting food and drinks on.

What sets the rooftop apart from the rest of the building, however, is the abundance of plants that the original owner had brought up there. Large planters feature growing greenery and vines that, with proper tending, will eventually grow lush and fill out the empty spaces and creep over the edge of the wall. A few small trees have been planted at one side of the roof as well, separated by decorative lattice panels to create small alcoves for little tables for two. With some of Keeliai's beautiful lanterns hung throughout the area, what isn't there to enjoy about the atmosphere up top?




staff

This establishment's current staff is as listed below, but other job opportunities are available! Those with talent in the kitchen, drink-making skills, or even the ability to lift heavy items or heft trays are welcome to inquire for a position! A place this big will certainly require a small squad of servers, busboys (or girls), dish washers, etc. Comment here if your characters is interested in a job and we'll see what can be arranged!

entertainment

Entertainers are scheduled most often in the evening, one to two times per week. Kedan performers are also welcomed when foreigners are not available. Interested in having your character perform? Drop me a line here. Entertainers will be offered a standard rate per hour of entertainment they provide, as well as one meal and drink on the house per performance. All tips they make are theirs to keep.
